Monday: Poverty Simulation Dinner 7pm Calvary church. Everyone will be served dinner depending on what 'class' they are randomly assinged. This will give people a chance to see the disparities between economic classes first hand. Not only will the food be different and accurate to what a person of each class can afford, but how people are treated will be as well.
Tuesday: Staking and letter wrting. We will have signs on Bascom Hill all day with facts about poverty, substandard housing, and Habitat. Letter writing will be in Calvary from 7-9. Letter writing is not only vital to our chapter but also to Habitat for Humanity as a whole. Representatives do take note and we have the power to change the lives of millions of Americas by simply sending a letter. This is a very fun event and a great life long skill to learn.
Wednesday: Bucky's State Fair 11am-2pm on Library Mall. We are participating in the All Campus Party for Bucky's state fair/wear red get fed. Come to Library Mall and enjoy some of our interactive games, Hammer out some stress on 2x4's and get some candy and magnets! Also remember to wear red for free pizza!
Thursday: T-shirt day and Volunteer day. Wear your favorite Habitat shirt on Thursday to show your pride and spread the word!Also, we have set up multiple volunteer opportunites for Thursday afternoon and evening. We will be going to local food pantry's, soup kitchens, and homeless shelters. Get your feet wet in the Community and make an immediate difference for those who need it the most.
Friday: Shack-A-Thon 11-4 on Library Mall. Come help us build a shack from scratch that mimicks the living conditions of billions of people in the world. Learn about the poverty, substandard housing and other issues and what habitat is doing to help. Stop by for a few minutes or stay the whole time!
