Chapter Mission - Enabling students to Help! Build! Change!

It is Habitat for Humanity’s vision to end the global housing crisis as soon as possible. It is the vision of Dane County Habitat for Humanity to be solving that problem 25 houses at a time and branching out to smaller impact projects by 2010. It is the vision of the UW Habitat for Humanity to aid in both of these substantially, while obtaining our own separate goals.

Substandard housing is a global epidemic and has pervasive consequences from health to economics. The UW Chapter sees Habitat’s exponentially growing solution to this issue through developing community and affordable housing as the best and most feasible solution. Over the next 5 years our campus chapter hopes to:
  • Increase our fundraising capacity to fund $75,000 locally (1 full house sponsorship) and $10,000+ internationally (2 house sponsorships) annually.
  • Increase our building capacity to expand volunteerism beyond our sponsored house and travel missions
  • Develop successful advocacy campaigns locally and nationally to affect the crisis on a policy basis
  • To educate a majority of our campus about the reality of both the problems of and solutions to substandard housing in Madison and globally.

We are here to serve anyone who thinks sub standard housing is outrageous, wants to make a visible real difference in world that live, or wants to learn more. However we can best serve you, the volunteers and our families, is what we strive to do, and what we do best.
