Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to eliminating poverty housing and homelessness from the world and to making decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. The UW-Madison Campus Chapter of Habitat for Humanity accomplishes this by engaging ourselves, our campus, our community, and our world in Education, Advocacy, Building, and Fundraising.

Tour de Habitat 2012 is open for registration. Join us on April 29 for a bike tour of the madison area. Choose from 25, 50 or the new 12-mile rides. New this year, there will also be a Family Fun Ride with scavenger hunt and prizes around Vilas Zoo! Visit the Tour de Habitat page to register

Thanks to everyone that attended or volunteered at Souper Bowl XVI yesterday. With your help, we raised over $27,000 to help build simple, decent, and affordable housing in the Madison area. Check out some of the local coverage our event received.

This semester's meetings have come to a close. We will begin meeting again next semester. Souper Bowl is just around the corner and we'll be in full gear all the way into 2012. We need a mot of volunteers for our biggest fundraiser, so contact Jennifer at souperbowl@uwhabitat.org if you would like to help.

Rake-a-Thon 2011 will be held from October 28th to October 30th. Rake-a-Thon is our annual fall leaf-raking fundraiser where area homeowners invite UW Habitat for Humanity to their homes to rake their yards in exchange for a monetary donation.

Our first Monday meeting of the semester will take place on September 12th in the basement of Calvary Lutheran church at 7pm.
Additionally, our Official Fall 2011 Kick-off Meeting will be held September 19th at 7pm fewaturing local artist Daniel and The Lion. Come join us and help UW-Madison's Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter continue to be the best in the country!
Join us on Sunday, May 1st for the 1st annual Tour De Habitat. This 25 or 50 mile bike event covering Madison and the surrounding areas will be a great time for all ages.

Our week long advocacy event will start April 15 and go through April 21. On Friday the 15th, our event will be Shanty Town on Library mall from 10-3. Saturday we are having a booth through All Campus Party’s Bucky’s Urban Odyssey. We will be having teams construct birdhouses. On Monday, we will be having the Poverty Simulation Dinner during the general member meeting. Tuesday we will be staking Bascom so walk by to check out our signs. Also if you have a Habitat shirt, Tuesday is the day to sport it. Wednesday we will be partnering with All Campus Party again for Wear Red Get Fed. Stop by to see Habitat’s booth and pound some nails. To wrap up the week, we will be writing letters to our Congressmen on Thursday night in Calvary at 7:00.
